Donald "Don" Lester Ballagh

Donald “Don” Lester Ballagh, age 74, of Oxford, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021. Cherishing his memory are his wife: Connie (nee Mills) Ballagh; his four children: Becky (Rob) Mullen, Jodi (Scott) Johnson, Chris (Selina) Ballagh, and Carrie (Ron) Lamarand; his eleven grandchildren: Jeremy Mullen, Andrea (Devon) Sturgis, Katie Mullen, Marissa (Brandon) Stumbo, Noah Johnson, Nate Johnson, Logan Ballagh, Carson Ballagh, Easton Ballagh, Garrett Lamarand, and Kennedy Lamarand.

Don was born November 22, 1946, in Pontiac, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Lester Dean and Doris Lorraine (nee Papke) Ballagh. He and Connie Ruth Mills were married on October 14, 1967. Don attended Northwood University, and went on to study accounting at the Pontiac Business Institute, graduating in 1968. From June of 1969 until March of 1971, Don proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his time with the Army, he worked as a journal clerk and served in the 28th Artillery Group on the Selfridge Air Force Base in Harrison Township. Upon his honorable discharge, Don started Greater American Landscape Company, which he co-owned and operated with his brother, Larry. He then went on to own and operate the Leonard Country Mill in Oakland County. After many years he transitioned into his excavating business, which later became Don L. Ballagh & Son Excavating when his son Chris joined him.

Don enjoyed the outdoors, hunting with his buddies in the U.P. and Alaska, as well as "dinking" around on his little hobby farm. His greatest joy in life was his grandkids and the time he spent with his family. He is most admired though, for his great love and devotion to his wife Connie as he so tenderly cared for her. He was a very humble man who served others, but first and foremost his Lord and Savior.

Don was preceded in death by his parents: Lester and Doris; and his brother: Larry D. (Pat) Ballagh.

Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, May 3, 2021 from 2:00pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 4:00pm at Five Points Community Church, 3411 E. Walton Blvd., Auburn Hills (Masks and Social Distancing Required). Inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
