John Richard Baxa, age 76, of Highland, Michigan passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021. John served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. During his retirement John liked completing renovation projects on his home. He loved reading and studying the Pacific Theater, inspired by his Father who served in the Navy during World War II. He loved the Detroit Lions, starting with the championships they were in during the 1950's. He is survived by his children Jessie and John Paul Baxa; his nephews Brian and Michael Baxa. He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Baxa. The funeral service will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday November 6, 2021 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Rd., Highland, Michigan 48356. The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will be in White Chapel Cemetery.
