

John William Dickson, of Commerce Twp., Michigan passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at the age of 81. John was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 27, 1943 to John and Mary (née Mackey) Dickson. He was raised by both parents along with his sister, Judith.
John was the beloved husband of Betty Dickson (née Rauscher), loving father of Greg Dickson (Ingrid); proud grandfather of Keana Dickson, Megan Geiermann (Jacob), Ryan Dickson, and Hannah Dickson, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary, his sister, Judith Basch; brother-in-law, James Basch; as well as his dear loving son, Michael Dickson and daughter-in-law, Deborah (née Schroeder) Dickson.
John was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal after serving his country with pride. John went on to a distinguished career in the automotive industry and retired from the Ford Motor Company as a Supervisor after 35 years of service, including Assembly Plants in St. Louis, MO, San Jose, CA, and Wixom, MI.
John’s life was filled with active pursuits. He was involved in playing baseball, rugby, coaching his sons’ Little League Baseball teams, and coaching church basketball, as well as being a part of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He also enjoyed family camping, boating, water skiing, golf, bowling, hunting, fishing, and especially, spending time with his family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Rd., Highland, Michigan 48356. The family will receive visitors from from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Marines following services. A luncheon will be served afterwards at Faith Lutheran Church, 3501 E. Highland Rd. Highland, Michigan 48356
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
