My dear, sweet husband: We had 19 wonderful years together. It was always an easy decision to renew our wedding vows every 5 years and I was looking forward to telling you again how much I loved you when we renewed our vows in 2015. You were a wonderful, caring husband and great, involved father. I adored you and will miss you forever. XXX.XX.

I have struggled with what to say. It all happened too quickly. My brother is gone way too soon. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people he had touched. He always thought he was a shy guy. He obviously made an impact on a lot of people and we will all miss him a great deal. Love you, bro.

For over 12 years, we have been blessed to live right next door to the Hopkins family. Very quickly, Larry became more than just a neighbor but someone that we respected, admired, and could call a friend. He was a wonderful person with a huge heart, a big smile, and a passion for family and community that was truly inspiring. Larry made a difference and we are so grateful for knowing him. Our love and prayers to Nancy, Alyssa, Katie, and Michelle.

I am still processing how much I admire what Larry accomplished in his life because I feel that I had a ringside seat for a great adventure.  I do not know when it will hit me how much I lost personally in his passing because I am still being overwhelmed by the magnitude of the impact he made on so many lives.  I will be fascinated to see how many and how profound these guest entries will be.  Still, it is too painful to contemplate the void he has left in my life.  I can only hope to fill the void by careful attention and responsiveness to the lives of Larry's ladies as the years go by.

Larry, Nancy, and the girls were one of the first families in the sub that we enjoyed bonfires with.  Larry could always be counted on to provide some timely humor around the fire and quick to enjoy a good laugh.  He always impressed us with his love of life, family, and community.  Most impressive, though, was the quiet but effective way he involved himself politically to make his neighborhood and community a better place for everyone, one of the most civic minded leaders we've ever had the pleasure to know.  Although the loss of Larry will be felt by those of us lucky enough to have known him, we have also been blessed by his time with us, and the positive impact he has had on our lives. I was shocked to learn of Larry's passing, I worked with him many years ago at Numqtics, Inc.  In Highland in the early 1980's He was a great guy and I'm sure he will be missed and thought of often by those who knew him.

Larry was a wonderful man, and father.  We enjoyed working with him during elections and Memorial Day activities.  He always talked about his daughters and was very proud of them. We have had the privilege of having Larry as our friend for over a decade....bowling, parties, family events as well as Kathie and Larry working together.   He left an imprint on our hearts and did so much for the good of everyone.  He was loved and respected and will be greatly missed....but never forgotten.  Our warmest regards to Nancy, Alyssa, Katie and Michelle as well as all his siblings and other family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. We were so shocked to hear that Larry passed away this week when they announced it to our bowling league. He will be missed by all.

We lost a wonderful friend this week just two days before Christmas - just 2 1/2 weeks after he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. He took guitar lessons with Jack at the Music Man every Friday at 4:30. He rehearsed at his home once a week with fellow students, Don Boyer and Dane Nuetz. Don told me today that they were working on Hotel California and that he couldn't wait to show Larry the fills that he had learned so quickly. Larry was the Hartland Township Clerk and gave so much back to his community. My husband, Tom, enjoyed meeting Larry every-so-often at his office when he had a package to deliver for Fed-Ex. When it was time to vote, there was Larry - and his daughter, Kaitlyn, now helping out, too! You could catch him on local cable during his township meetings on Thursdays and I used to tease him when I'd see him on Friday and call him a local celebrity. He would look down, blush and smile, and laugh a little bit. He was humble, sweet, dedicated and quietly strong. When it was time for me to apply for my passport last Spring, I was delighted to discover that the person to talk to was our friend, Larry Hopkins! Larry left behind his wife and three daughters. It is a great loss to them, to his friends, to the Township of Hartland , and to each of us who had the great pleasure and privilege to have known him. God bless you, Larry. Our world is a brighter place to have had you in it, and Heaven is brighter still.

I had the pleasure of working with Larry on the elections.  I never thought this would be the last time I would see him again, life is short.  He was a very kind and considerate man who cared a great deal about people.  I will miss him, rest in peace Larry.  I send my love and prayers to his family.
