Hopkins, Larry J.; Of Hartland, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Novi, Michigan. Mr. Hopkins is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Nancy, his adoring children, Michelle (Kevin) Smith, his twin daughters, Alyssa and Kaitlyn. Larry is also survived by his siblings, Robert, Karen (Dennis) Matyjaszek and Janis (Douglas) Pfeiffer. Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his brother, David, his parents, Robert and Betty Ann. Larry loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Larry grew up in Detroit and Highland and moved to Hartland Township about 20 years ago. He instantly became active in the community. Larry served on the Township Board of Trustees since 2004 and has been the Township Clerk since 2010. Larry was also very involved in the Rotary Club of Hartland, Hartland Township Planning Commission and was recently elected President of the Hartland Community Council. Mr. Hopkins did a lot for Hartland and wanted to make a difference.
Besides being a devoted family man, Larry loved sports and particularly the Detroit Lions, even putting a giant inflatable Lion on his front lawn on game days, keeping the neighbors informed of the day's priority (in his opinion!)
The family hopes the community knows how much he enjoyed serving Hartland Township. Larry gave so much back to the community that he loved and dedicated a lot of his time to that cause. Mr. Hopkins was a real advocate for making Hartland a better place.

Highland Rd., Highland, MI., 48356 on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2099 N.
