

Bill was born in Aurora, Nebraska on November 24, 1935 to Ivy Lee and Iona Lamode (nee Reed) Main. He attended Aurora High School where he excelled in baseball and basketball. In 1950 Bill's family moved to Detroit where he finished school and and met the love of his life, Peggy Atkison. They were married on September 15, 1952 and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Bill and Peggy raised 6 children, Karen (Ken) Pesta, Dan (Larraine) Main, Teri (Peter) Sapienza, Kristie (Craig) Strauss, Kerry Howell and the late Kellie (Mark) Foret. He was blessed with 19 grandkids, 23 great-grandkids with more on the way.
Bill retired from Ford Motor Company. In retirement, he and Peggy started "Clean Sweep", an office cleaning company that employed many family members. In his later years, along with Peggy and his beloved dog Pepper, they settled in the Milford area on a peaceful lake. Bill will be remembered for his love of Detroit sports, watching kids/grandkids sporting events, fishing on his lake, watching horse racing and mostly visiting with his kids and grandkids.
Bill never shied away from a good conversation and loved to regale friends, new and old with the many stories of his life.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister and his daughter Kellie.
