Known as “TFOB” or “Tony Full of Bologna” to many, Tony was someone who people loved to be around. With his quick wit and sense of humor, he could make anyone laugh, which is something he enjoyed. He had many interests, including hot rods, fishing, and being outdoors.
Tony had a long career in maintenance that began when he was just 15 years old. He started working with his dad at Hope College and made his way up to Event Coordinating Manager. He had a knack for fixing things and solving problems, something that made him an excellent maintenance manager.
In addition to Tony’s work and hobbies, he was a longtime member of Parkside Bible Church. He ran the sound booth for several years and was a former elder and deacon. He was also involved with Van Houten Music Ministry for many years with his parents.
Tony is survived by his children Candace Van Houten, Jon Van Houten, and Becky Van Houten; grandson Giovanni; spouse Deb Van Houten; and parents Adrian and Sharon Van Houten. He is also survived by sister Shawn (Tim) Drost and Elizabeth (Daryl) Coffey.
A Memorial service to honor Tony will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 11 AM at Parkside Bible Church - 14461 James St, Holland, MI 49424, with visitation at 10:30 AM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Tony’s family to assist with funeral costs.
