Skip was born in Holland May 12, 1947 to Charles and Delores (Katz) O’Connor. He was a member of New Richmond Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, enjoyed keeping in contact with friends on his Ham radio (WB8WTZ), worked for Woodward for many years prior to retirement, and enjoyed family time in a camping club for many years.
Skip is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice (Armstrong) O’Connor; children Charles “Chuck” (Callie) O’Connor, Kim (John) VanLaan, and David O’Connor; grandchildren Margo O’Connor, Connor (Taryn) VanLaan, and Lexi VanLaan; sister Vera (Jerry) Armstrong; many extended family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Skip's life will be 11:00am Friday, October 3, 2025 at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland. Officiating will be Dr. Frank Senters. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00pm Thursday, at Lakeshore Memorial.
