Chester “Chet” Dale Kalkman, 89, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, November 1, 2019, in Holland, Michigan. Chet was born in August of 1930 to Cornelius and Marguerite Kalkman in Holland. He attended Holland Christian High School, served in the Korean conflict, and worked at Neil & Al Construction and Kalkman Redi-Mix.
Chet was preceded in death by granddaughter Lindsey Jo Kalkman. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ardith (Poll) Kalkman, children Steve and Pam Kalkman, Deb and Mike Bakker, Pam and Steve Crumb, grandchildren Chad and Tressa Kalkman, Heather Slenk, Val and Andy Bush, Patrick and Sara Crumb, Jessica Crumb and fiancé Devin Manino, and 9 great-grandchildren. Chet's surviving siblings are Marge Altena, Paul and Linda Kalkman, Dave and Sue Kalkman, in-laws Mary Kalkman, Jack Poll, Dale and Thelma Brower, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life with military honors will be 11 am, Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Calvary on 8th in Holland. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Tuesday, November 5, at the church.
