It was a little difficult for me to meet Chris, but in the end I had him talk, I was constantly telling him to congratulate me in the game and he never spoke to me, I was constantly writing something, I could not get an answer, but at the end of one day I made him speak and I was trying to teach him Turkish, he was very funny, very clean-hearted. My name's Twilight or Twi as I was known. I was one of his raid healers who had the pleasure of playing with him and enjoying his company. I'm not comfortable giving out my real name but I never really got to play much with Chris. however the content we did run in light parties (Another Sil'dihn Subterranean) was memorable due to laser tag and the great fun he was to be around.

Chris was one of the best tanks I'd ever had the experience of playing with, bless him. I wish I'd spent more time with him, to get to know him better. There's a lot of things I regret. When I saw him laying in the chair in the video chat with all of his static members present that could make it, I teared up.  It's a touching moment for all of us. To be there with him in person as the people who played with him through the Abyssos raid tier (although i joined late and was only present for the last two fights.)

We even did some other raids together and hearing him say "good dog" any time we did a certain mechanic correctly that he called out as "stay" or "move" always cracked me up. 

Thank you, Chris. For being such a good friend. I hope life up in the clouds is deserving of the amazing life you've led.

Dear Huizenga Family, 

I am heartbroken to hear of Chris' passing. I have hesitated to write this because I couldn't even begin to think of what to say. After all, what does anyone say after a loss of this magnitude? True to form, Chris would say to do it anyway because if there's a chance that it would give someone comfort during a difficult time, I'm certain he would say to do it. That's the kind of person Chris was. If there was any kind or generous thing that he could do for someone else, he would do it without hesitation. 

Maybe this is strange to some people, but I still remember what he sounded like on the saxophone. Even though I'm certain he hadn't played in years. For those who may not know, musical talent runs deeply the Huizenga family, and Chris sound was just like he was as a person...full of warmth and positive energy. There was not a harsh sound to be found anywhere. 

That's how I'll always remember Chris--with boundless kindness and a rich generosity of spirit. I won't pretend to have known Chris as well as others, but that's the thing--you didn't have to know Chris well for him to make a positive impact on your life. He will be forever missed, and his friends and family will be in my prayers in the days ahead.

To Chris's family, you have raised someone that has been so special and meaningful in our lives, and I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that while he lived a life that was far too short, yet his impact will be everlasting. Thank you so much for that! We originally met around 17 years ago in the first game I ever really played online which is now called FHX and played together then in the same guild. 15 years later when the game reopened, we were back but this time better than ever. Over the time we've spend together again in the past 1.5 years we've shared so many laughs, high quality films, fears, and just overall love/lava for each other. He was basically one of my best friends, and he read me like a book! Any inflection on my voice he would automatically know how I'm feeling without me having to say it. He was so intuitive and always knew the right thing to say, and how to cheer me up if I needed it. I had a lot of hard times in the game we played together, and he always leveled me out.  I always told him that he was the "voice of reason" and a balance to the hectic situations we often faced together. Our friendship came at a time of need for me when I was feeling down about some situation that happened, and it was truly healing. I appreciate every moment we spent together, so many countless nights on voice chat talking about life, music, watching movies together, sharing our fears and our hopes and dreams. I appreciate how we always pushed each other to be the best versions of ourselves. I appreciate your family for giving him the values and tools he needed growing up to become such an impressive person in all of our lives, and we are all better people thanks to his influence. I know he is finally with the Lord and has the peace and serenity he deserves.

  I remember the times he'd come into the discord and speak with me about lifting and I'd give him my advice.  He seemed to really start enjoying it but after a while, he told me his shoulder was really bothering him. Sadly, we didn't know at that moment what was going on with him and thought it was just a little injury to his working out. I told him that I'd also had a similar experience and that eventually it went away months down the road.  Later he found out about what was really going on and I always felt so bad about it. Nowadays I always work out with him on my mind and lately, I pretend he's with me in the room. Just thinking about him gives me that extra boost of motivation that I need to start my day. I know he'd still be working out if he could be and I dedicate all my workouts to him from now until forever he'll always be with me.

I feel like knowing Chris through the game and talking to him I got to experience so much joy. He was nice to be around and always would make you laugh and put a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart. As I am writing this I am filled with so much sadness that it just pains me to think this happened to such a beautiful soul like Chris. What I wouldn't have done to take his place instead so he didn't have to suffer through that. I am only happy and jealous that he gets to see and feel the good Lord's face and be with him at peace.

Dear Huizenga Family,
	It comes with deep sadness that I am to write this today but his legacy will never be forgotten. My name is Justin or Darkness as Chris knew me in-game. Chris and I were very like-minded and I always enjoyed our friendship together. It was really nice that he was a Christian as well it made me feel a lot more comfortable.  I always felt like Chris was a brother to me. He always a big heart and willing to lend a hand to anybody who needed it that's the Chris I got the chance to be around.  He was always a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day that's what he was to me in my life. 

A memory that I will never forget is when he made his character, "Lightness." He really honored me with the gesture of saying he was going to get his character up with that name. That meant a lot to me as my character is named Darkness. I felt like he was the lighter side of myself and I was the darker side. He was the friend I never knew I needed until I found him so I would like to do something for him. He never got to get Lightness up to the level he wanted. I know he would have liked to finish that goal so starting today I would like to honor him and level it up for him.



This was my first time meeting Chris in the online video game Final Fantasy 14.  He is the character here named "Eru Light".  My character is Shadow Moons.  I thought it was interesting that our names were opposites of each other.  So I wrote this comment here "The light to my darkness is here".  Signifying that Eru is the light and he has found me, to light up my darkness so that we can start our adventure together.  

I got to know him a little bit and we shared some personal things with each other.  One of my closer exchanges with him was when he had to take a break from the game due to feeling overwhelmed.  He was our static group leader.  I wanted to help out by keeping our group together and taking away some of the burden off him.  Some time after he returned back to the game, he messaged and thanked me for doing this.  He told me if I hadn’t done this, he may have quit the game for good.  From here we developed a special friendship.  

I enjoyed hearing his laugh during our discord voice calls.  I am glad I helped create many memories and moments for us to experience together.  I will never forget these times because he really was a light to my darkness.  Thank you Chris for being so awesome.  May the light continue to guide you to peace and harmony.  The warrior of darkness will join you again one day and our adventures will continue!



To the Family: I only knew Chris for about 6 months playing Final Fantasy 14, but I have to say he was a very kind, fun, and smart guy. He always expected and encouraged the best out of the team during our raid days. He was compassionate in making sure we were enjoying ourselves and we had the time to care for our family and personal lives. He was one of the best shotcallers I've raided with as well. It was a blast raiding with him as his co-tank in savage and ultimate. I think it was because we enjoyed the same twitch streamers. If we survived an unlivable tank buster or cheated melee uptime on a mechanic we'd do our best Xenosysvex "MANMODE!" voice and laugh. Chris was also a great mentor. We would chat on discord about our tank strategies and talk about pros and cons of each tank job. Chris was a one of a kind soul and a great friend.

Dear family and friends of Chris,

We shared in a common interest of a old revived game. I do remember seeing Lhugennar throughout the game in the past before it was closed down and even when it was revived. We were not close even when it was revived due to being in competing guilds in the game. However, I did have a brief interaction with him during my time when I heard that he was streaming our competition between guilds. I complimented him on his stream and his gameplay as a Summoner (class in-game) to which he was grateful and little bit shocked that I knew he was streaming. I told him everyone talks about who's doing what and that he should continue doing his streams as he seemed to enjoy it. 

Other than that I knew the guild he was in truly enjoyed his company and often said how nice he was. It was a shame I did not get to know him better. We even shared the same birthday who would have guessed. I hope the people who shared more in his life take solace in the idea that he was appreciated, respected, and loved throughout the online community as well as real life.

I've known Chris since 2008, when we first started playing together. Although we had a long break, we were reunited in 2020 when FHX made a comeback. It was great to see our group come together again and resume our gaming adventures.

Chris was an exceptionally joyful and affectionate individual. The conversations we had and the laughter we shared truly bound us together. In our community, I was known for creating memes, and I could tell he greatly appreciated them. I even recall a time when he liked multiple of my memes while battling his illness. Knowing that I could bring some smiles to Chris during these challenging times made me truly happy. It was comforting to have him around, and I cherished the moments when I could brighten his day.

I will always hold dear the last chat messages we exchanged, where I would check in on him and see how he was feeling. Chris, in my eyes, is a legend who will never be forgotten by any one of us. He is known and loved by so many people. Rest assured, he left a profound impact on all of our lives.

Hello! My name is Lawrence (North- In Game) and I had the pleasure of spending over a year with Chris playing an online game we both enjoyed together. I’m originally from Michigan but commissioned into the military after college and have been serving for 9 years, currently residing in Florida. 

I truly loved Chris like a brother. We were born 2 days apart and had a lot of similarities with the way we processed information. His laugh was mesmerizing and his heart truly pure. Me and all of our mutual friends absolutely adored this kid. We talked so much over the past year plus and there was never a dull moment. I’m so glad he was able to enjoy one of my sandwich recommendations from Two Beards in Grand Rapids <3 I really wish I was able to enjoy one of those with him in person.

I’m having a hard processing this just as did when my mother passed away from cancer back in 2021. But it brings me so much peace knowing that him and my mother are no longer suffering and both comfortable in Gods presence now.

I love you Chris, I love you Chris’ family. We are all blessed to have gotten the opportunity to know him.
