Floyd Allen DeBoer, age 78, passed away at his home in Beaverdam Monday, May 3, 2021. He was born august 21, 1942 to Herman & Anna Mae DeBoer. He Proudly served in the U.S. Air force from 1960-1964 as an Air Traffic Controller stationed in Thule, Greenland & Hawaii. Floyd married Isla May Visser on May 9 1968 in Forrest Grove. Together they shared just shy of 53 years of marriage. Floyd retired from Spartan Foods after 36 years of service, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed playing softball & bowling where friendships were begun and continued throughout. Later on he enjoyed watching many Zeeland athletic events often being the first spectator onsite. Detroit Tigers and NASCAR racing filled many hours of fun family vacation time that will continue on in fond memories. Floyds family, friends & neighbors were blessed by his generosity & kindness. He enjoyed his large garden, sowing many fruits & vegetables that he would share with friends & neighbors on regular basis. He will be missed dearly by his wife Isla May DeBoer and his daughter & son in-law Melissa & Jon Jongekrijg. He is also survived by his siblings Flora (Larry Boeve), John (Joanne) DeBoer, Mark (Julane) DeBoer, and Carol (Tim) Busscher. Surviving Aunt Margaret Pyle; Sister In-laws Flora Gale (Art) Schout & Bea Visser; Many nieces, nephews, friends & neighbors. He was preceded in death by his Parents Herman & Anna May DeBoer. The family would like to thank the Zeeland Township Fire & Rescue Department & Ottawa County Sheriff's Department & County Dispatch for their caring assistance. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Spectrum Health Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center, 100 Michigan St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503, or the Ottawa County Sherriff's Department K9 Unit, 12220 Fillmore Street, West Olive, MI 49460 (Please put "Floyd DeBoer in the memo line). Per the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00am, and friends are invited to join via live stream at www.facebook.com/Lakeshore-Memorial-Services-160312800655535/. A celebration of life will be held later in the summer.
