Hotze "Ike" Ybe Rusticus, aged 91, passed away on January 15, 2026. Born on August 30, 1934, in Marum, Netherlands, Ike moved to the United States in 1950. He spent much of his early life helping his family and working as a mason in the Netherlands. He was the oldest of seven brothers.
Ike proudly served in the Army for two years. He worked the majority of his life at Padnos, where he was known as the man who could fix anything. After retiring in 1997, Ike returned to work after a short six-month break and finally retired at the age of 75.
In 1955, Ike married his first wife, Agnes, and they welcomed their first child in 1956. Ike built their first house himself, showcasing his expert masonry skills. He cherished family trips to Florida, especially the memories made at Disney World and the fondly remembered Disney cruise. Ike lost his first wife Agnes in 2019 after a long battle with dementia. Though Ike's time was short with his second wife, Delores, he showed her the love and faith he had shown the rest of his family before her passing in 2024.
Ike loved being a father a grandfather, and a brother. He took great joy in teaching his children about hard work and the masonry trade. Even in his later years, he would meet his brothers at the Dutch store, where they once got so rowdy that they were asked to leave. A devout Christian, Ike loved sharing his faith with those around him.
Ike was preceded in death by his father, Ybe Rusticus; his mother, Ruth Rusticus; his brothers, Frans (Frank) and his wives, Agnes and Delores Rusticus; his son, Gary Rusticus, and His Granddaughters Kayla, Tonya, Theressa and Tiffany.
He is survived by his brothers, Eilof (Al), Robert (Bob), Nicolaas (Peter), Eduard (Ed), and Roland; his daughter-in-law, Vicki Rusticus-Cole; his sons, Tim (Barb) Rusticus and Mike Rusticus; his daughter, Linda (Bob) Lamer; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
