

James Robert Dykens, born on May 13, 1933, in Holland, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at Corewell Health – Butterworth and entered his heavenly home on December 18, 2025, at the age of 92. Jim was a lifelong resident of Holland, known for his dedication to his family and his community.
Born and raised in Holland to William and Jennie (Wielenga) Dykens, Jim graduated from Holland High School, and studied at the University of Michigan and Hope College. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. After his military service, Jim dedicated 42 years to a career at Holland BPW before retiring.
Jim was preceded in death by his two brothers, Willard and Gene.
He is survived by his precious wife of 49 years, Ruth (VandenBrink), and his daughters, Jodi Davis and Kerri Antles (Jeremy). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Skylar and Mandi. James is also survived by his siblings, Helen VerHulst, Carol Kooiker, and Beverly (Rich) Woltman, as well as his sister-in-law Luanne Dykens, and many extended family and friends.
In his personal life, James was passionate about hunting and fishing, and he was an avid bowler. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his beloved wife.
James Robert Dykens will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and love for his family and community, and his Lord Jesus. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate Jim’s life with Military Honors will be 12noon on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland.
Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of the service on Saturday at Lakeshore Memorial.
