

Martina Malave-Betancourt, age 87, of Holland, MI and formerly of Orange City, Florida passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Martina was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico July 12, 1934. She moved to Chicago at the age of 17. Where she met her husband at the age of 19. Martina became a widow at the age of 21.
Martina is survived by: her daughter Naomi Betancourt; son-in-law, Joel S. Vogelzang; granddaughter Crystal-Carrie and Matt Grossi; great-grandsons, Braxton and Maverick Grossi; grandson Tyler Michael and Jamee Lyn Griffiths; sisters, Tommie Castro of Orlando, FL., Elena & Geronimo Veguilla of Opaka, FL., Petra Malave of Orlando, FL; dearest friend/sister, Taty Miyoshi and Raul of Chicago, IL.; nieces and nephews, Alma and Al Ortiz, Winter Park, FL., Maria Orquidia and Paul Marchesani of Prospect Park, PA., Carlos and Merle Malave, Downers of Grove, IL., Frank and Bonnie Malave of Des Plaines, IL., Jose and Linda Malave of Ellenton, FL., Ramona and Fred DeLeon of Montclair, CA., Edwin and Mirna Malave of Lenox, IL., Millie Malave of Rialto, CA., Luis Malave of Mansfield, TX., John Jr. and Magda Castro of Orlando, FL., Ron Castro of Orlando, FL., Hilda Malave of Caguas, Puerto Rico, Carmelo Malave of Caguas, Puerto Rico, Carmencita Millan of Caguas, Puerto Rico, Martin Vargas of Orlando, FL., Luisito Rosario; godsons, Angelito Rosario and Neftali Pinto; and numerous second nieces and nephews whom she adored!
Martina was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Neftali Betancourt-Vazquez; mother, Pazita Vazquez-Malave; father, Lorenzo Malave; brothers, Luis and Juanita Malave, Francisco and Maria Malave, Miguel Malave, Moncho Malave; Sisters, Artemia Hernandez, Manuela Malave; nieces, Olgita Malave, Zoraida Castro, Yolanda Hernandez; nephew, Ferdinand Malave; brother-in-law, Johnny Castro; and former son-in-law, Gary Michael Griffiths.
A visitation/service/celebration of life will take place on Thursday April 28th from 3-5:30 at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St. Holland, MI 49424. There will be a Facebook Live feed streaming during the visitation and service. Lakeshore Memorial Services Facebook page.
