She was born on May 2, 1940, in Midland, Michigan, to Ray and Selvina Wyse. After graduating from cosmetology school, Myra built a long and devoted career as a beautician and salon owner at Hair Tech Studios, where she worked with skill and care for the people she served. She continued doing the work she loved until retiring at the age of 80.
On July 5, 1975, Myra married Ron Shand, and together they built a life filled with family, travel, and time spent in the places they loved most. She cherished her summers in beautiful northern Michigan and her winters in Punta Gorda, Florida, where she was a member of New Life Church. Myra enjoyed boating and watching freighters pass through the Straits in the Upper Peninsula. She soaked up the sun and embodied its warmth to those she loved.
Myra is survived by her husband, Ron Shand; her sister Mary (Mel) Kauffman; her brother Randy (Janet) Wyse; her children Turk (Lauri) Kauffman, Todd (Gail) Kauffman, and Kip Kauffman; her stepchildren Cory Shand, Cheri (Rob) Rumsey, and Ron (Jenie) Shand Jr. Six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ron Wyse, and her sister, Janice Wyse.
Her love will always remain imprinted on the hearts of those who were close to her, and we know she goes before us, free of pain, having entered the city of eternal light.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held in June at Lakeshore Memorial Services in Holland, Michigan. More information will be forthcoming.
