Born in Douglas, Michigan, Norm was the son of Henry Wilson Rininger and Bessie Alice
(Beery) Rininger. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ellen (Pitcher) Rininger; his
children, Karin (Scott) Holmes, Margaret Rininger, and Michael (Alinda) Rininger; and his
cherished grandchildren, May Rininger, Aurora Rininger, Olivia Holmes, Bishop Rininger, and
Willow Rininger. He is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn (Matt) Pitcher (Rininger) and
Marlene Rininger, as well as his brothers, Ernest (Barb) Rininger and Kenneth (Barb) Rininger.
Norm graduated from Saugatuck High School in 1966 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army,
where he served as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War era and was stationed in Germany.
Following his military service, Norm worked in various manufacturing roles until his retirement
in the late 2000s. After retiring, he worked part-time for AutoZone in Holland.
A dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge, Norm was honored as Lodge Master, named
Member of the Year several times, and was a lifetime member. His contributions and
commitment to the Masonic community were an important part of his life.
A graveside service will be held on February 28 at 1:00 PM at Douglas Cemetery in Douglas,
Michigan. A celebration of Norm’s life will follow at the Fennville Masonic Lodge, a place that
held deep meaning for him. The family invites guests to attend in warm, comfortable clothing
and enjoy some of Norm's favorite foods, with events taking place “Norm-style.”
Norm’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by
his family, friends, and the community.
