Ron was born on August 12, 1937 to Martin and Matilda Koetsier. Ron married the catch of his life, Elinor Oetman on Nov. 19, 1957. Ron was a lifelong member of South Olive CRC where he served as Deacon and Elder as well as on the board of South Olive Christian School. He served 8 years in the National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, reading and helping his family as well as sharing Jesus with everyone. Ron and Elinor enjoyed many mission trips. The last 23 years, they enjoyed their winter home in Ellenton Florida. He loved helping his daughter’s family business Visser Farms and his son's family business K2autos. Ron was employed at Donnelly Corporation (magna) for 41 years.
Ron is survived by: his wife, Elinor of 66 years; children, Cindy (Philip) Visser and Ken (Amy) Koetsier; grandchildren, Casey and Megan Visser (Anna and Charlie), Andrew and Laura Visser, Jo Ellen and Robert Havenaar (Rebecca, Philip, Andrew, Elizabeth, Daniel and Timothy), Jacob and Shelby Visser (Elsa, Molly and Jane), William and Brooke Visser, Luke Visser, Isaac Visser, Katlyn and Ryan Geeting. Marissa and Hunter Lewellyn, and Sam Koetsier; sister, Donna (Lyle) Veldheer; brother and sister-in-laws, Helen Feenstra, Edna Vander Sluis, Joe VerMeulen, and Corlyn Oetman; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 14 from 6 to 8 at South Olive Christian Reformed Church. The services will be held on Wednesday, May 15 at 11 o’clock with visitation an hour before the service.
Memorial donations can be made to South Olive CRC, South Olive Christian School and Faith Hospice.
