Thomas (Tom) K. Adams, born on January 8, 1959 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away on December 29, 2024 at the age of 65, in Holland, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie R. Adams; father, William L. Adams; and brother, David (Dave) W. Adams. Tom was a faithful, gentle, smart, kind, and loyal man with a strong sense of justice. He was faithful in his care of his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his family, his friends, and his work. He was faithful to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served in the church. He loved his wife, Gail Adams, with great care and affection for 45 years. His children love him deeply, and he was a wonderful father. Tom was one of seven children and enjoyed close relationships with his siblings: Caroline, Veronique, Chris, Sylvia, Dave, and Steve.
Tom loved playing basketball and eating his mother’s French cooking. He graduated from Academy of Holy Angels in 1977 and shortly met the love of his life, Gail, at Pop’n’Fresh, while working as a line cook. They started dating and were married in 1979. They lived life as an adventure with a “Why not?” kind of attitude. Their great adventure included living in three states: Minnesota, Massachusetts, and Michigan. It included five children: Grant (Casey) Adams, Elise (Adam) Zantello, Katelyn (Ben) Crouch, Lucas Adams, and Isaiah Adams. It also included some awesome family road trips visiting Colorado, Florida, and New York, with many places in between. Tom and Gail loved hosting friends and spending time with family celebrating life’s milestones and holidays over the years.
Tom spent many years coaching basketball for his children. One of his greatest joys was watching his kids play sports. He enjoyed studying the Bible and politics and talked about those topics often. Tom had a strong work ethic and went to night school for years, while working full time and caring for his family, to achieve his Engineering degree. He worked hard to provide a stable and full life for his wife, children, and grandchildren. In most recent years, their adventure included adding 10 grandchildren to their family: Ayla Zantello, Grace Zantello, Daphne Adams, Thomas Zantello, Gordon Adams, Isaac Zantello, Margaret Crouch, Marvin Zantello, Lydia Crouch, and Baby Crouch due in 2025. Tom loved being a grandfather and was adored by his grandchildren who would describe him as kind and gentle.
In recent years, Tom and Gail moved to Michigan. Tom enjoyed working for GE Aviation and spending time with his family. They traveled often to see their friends, family, and grandchildren in MN and spent lots of time with their children and grandchildren in MI.
Tom was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer tumor right before Christmas this year, December 2024. His family rallied around him to care for him and enjoyed a very special Christmas together. Tom passed away peacefully at home late at night on December 29. Tom was a faithful follower of Jesus and was confident and at peace with the eternal life to come.
As we reflect on Tom’s life, 2 Timothy 4:8 comes to mind: “I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” A celebration of life will take place in Minnesota on February 2, 2025 at Next Chapter Winery in New Prague, MN. Service will take place at 2pm with an open house from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a gift donation to Together for Good at https://togetherforgood-bloom.kindful.com/
