

Aliyamma Thomas was born at Veliyil House, Kalappura, Alappuzha, to M. Chacko and Chinamma Chacko on February 13, 1938. She attended school at St. Joseph’s Highschool for Girls. She married Samuel Thomas on May 9, 1971, in Karthigapally. She completed her nursing training at the Military Hospital, Poona. She served honorably in the Indian Army as a Captain and nurse from 1962 to 1969. She then worked as a registered nurse in Florida for over 30 years. She received several honors for her dedication to nursing, including being recognized as Nurse of the Year.
Aliyamma Thomas is preceded in death by her parents, M. Chacko and Chinamma Chacko, and her siblings, TC Devassiaand Mariamma Jacob.
Aliyamma Thomas is survived by her husband, Samuel Thomas; her children, Susan (Reshma) Vadaparampil and Rajesh Thomas; her son-in-law, Mathew Vadaparampil; her sister, Ponnamma George; and her grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, and Maya. She was Chechi, Aunty, Amamma, Amachi, and Mimi to many in Florida, India, and beyond.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at St. Gregorios Orthodox Church of India, Hollywood, 2850 Taylor Street, Hollywood, FL.
Public viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Fred Hunter’s Memorial Gardens, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL.
