Born in Sylvester, Georgia on November 2, 1934, son of Cleon and Mattie (Farmer) Barfield. At the age of two, he and his family moved to Hollywood, Florida.
Al was raised and educated in Hollywood and worked for the City of Hollywood for 38 years before his retirement in 1989. In his spare time, Al enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
Survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Geneva (Parrent) Barfield, son, Brad Barfield and his wife, Patty Barfield, daughter, Donna McCumber and her husband Russ McCumber, two brothers, Don Barfield and his wife Barbara Barfield and Loyd Barfield and his wife, Donna Barfield, five grandchildren, Jill (Josh)Grant, Jeff (Sarah) McCumber, Bradley Barfield, Chad Barfield and Kyle Barfield, three great grandchildren, Jaelin Grant, Sage McCumber and Clay McCumber. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jimmy Allan McCumber in 2011.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18th at 2:00 P.M. at Fred Hunters Hollywood Memorial Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood. The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the service.
