She was born in Port-de-Paix, Haiti, to Cecilia Calixte and Fortune Francois on June 8th, 1925. In the early 70’s, she immigrated to the United States with 8 of her children and first lived in Brooklyn, New York before resettling in South Florida where she lived most of her adult years in America.
Amarante was a resourceful woman. She was known for her creative expressions, especially in the culinary vein and for her unparalleled fashion sense. Amarante loved to dance and her zest for life was contagious. She will be missed forevermore by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her whole family, and beloved friends.
Amarante is survived by her children Jacques Alexandre Despinosse; Gerard Despinosse; Betty Bonny; Lucienne Nicholson; Brienne Despinosse; Nicole Despinosse; Marie-Cecile Despinosse, plus 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Join loved ones in a joyful celebration of her life on December 2nd, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Repast will be held in the Parish Hall.
