Andr "Doc" Joseph Rsilard, the son of Jeannelie Rsilard and Mathieu Jaboin, was born on January 1st, 1923 in Ctes-de-Fers, Haiti where he grew up and in his early adult life, worked as an Assistant to a missionary physician. He later moved to Port-au-Prince where he married the love of his life, Lilia, with whom he raised six wonderful children and lived for 60 years until her passing.
Andr immigrated to New York in 1963 where he worked his way from a Security Guard to Chief of Security. Within a few short years, he sent for his family, making his home whole again by reuniting the members. This new home had then become a "stepping stone" for all family members and friends looking to immigrate to the US. In 1984, with Lilia by his side Andr moved to Florida where he worked as Chief of Security and Teacher's Aide until retirement.
Andr believed in his family, its unity and sanctity. Andr will be remembered as "loving", with arms outstretched and ready to welcome you; "generous", always committed to helping a family or a friend in need; "honorable", grounded in his beliefs and standing up for his rights; "attentive", never forgetting a face, a name or event; and "independent", living an autonomous life until the tender age of 92.
Andr, a goal setter and achiever, was a father, friend, brother, advisor, an uncle as well as a resourceful person that you could go to for comfort or a solution in any circumstances. He loved the Lord and praised Him faithfully, serving as an usher at St. Maximilian Kolbe every Sunday since his move to Pembroke Pines.
On Sunday, June 28, 2015 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family and friends, and after the rosary prayer, Andr went on to be with The Lord. A hard-working and faithful man, Andr's work continues as an angel looking over his loved ones.
Our beloved Andr is survived by his children Marc-Arthur, Mike, Pierre, Yves, Frantz, and Shirley; sisters Anacia and Lina; brother Wilfrid; grandchildren: Yvens, Patrick, Joanne, Brianna, Christopher, Stephane, Frantzo, Tamara, Sherley, Jaime, Michelle, Richard, Tania, and Kevin; Great grand children: Yvens Jr., Justin, Giovanni, Ryan, Aydin, Erika, Empress, Essence, Jaila, Jason, nephews and nieces and numerous good friends.
Our father will be missed, but in this painful moment let us remember his living example: let us lift our eyes to the heavens and see our Father, for He is the one that sustains us, and let us, in Andr's words: "Have faith in God".
