Antoine G. Theodore
-----------------------------------
Antoine Gilles Theodore was born in Limbe, Haiti to the late Sylvestre Theodore (& Egyptienne Honore, stepmother) of Haiti. He was the oldest of (2) siblings. Antoine grew up in Haiti and sought to become a skilled tradesmen by becoming a Tailor. He would meet the love of his life, Cleante Theodore, in a city called Cap Hiatien in Haiti. Antoine and Cleante were married on January 28, 1961, and had their firstborn child (Jose) that same year. In (3) years after their firstborn, Jeremy was born. Followed (3 years later) by the last child Kenol. As Antoine observed the hardships of life in Haiti, he was determined to forge a better life for his family by going to America. As Antoine would tell his children on many occasions, that with the help of the Lord God (his “Shepherd”); he came to America (in 1967) not knowing one word of English. He worked odd jobs (and many years later, had a career as a janitor) to send money home to Haiti and he saved enough to bring his wife to America (in 1969), followed by their children (2) years later.
Antoine accepted the Lord at an early age, and later on as an adult he modeled 2 things in his life: he provided for his family, and he was a diligent servant in the house of the Lord. As a Deacon he was always ready to: pray for someone, provide a helping hand, lead worship at church/missionary field, and at home visitations. He made friends wherever he went, while sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He served faithfully at: DeKalb St Baptist Church, Maranatha Baptist Church, l’Eglise Baptiste D’expression Francaise, all in Brooklyn New York. When Antoine retired to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, he became a member and Deacon of Fraternity Baptist Church. He served the Haitian community faithfully as he was led by God and was a blessing to many, including his wife and children. One of the highlights of his life was to celebrate his 50th anniversary with a limo & formal church ceremony with all of his children and grandchildren present on 1/29/2011.
On 3/27/2020, Antoine transitioned from this life to being present with our Lord and Savior.
He leaves behind his loving spouse, of 59 years, Cleante, (3) children: Jose G. Theodore (Romy) of Atlanta, Georgia, Jeremy Theodore of Montreal, Canada, & Kenol Theodore (Nannette) of Burlington, NC. He leaves a brother Jacque Sylvestre of Montréal, Canada, and sister Margo Sylvestre of Spring Valley, NY; (5) grandchildren: Jeffrey of Montréal Canada, Charles and Bianca of Atlanta, Georgia, Azarel and Simeon of Burlington, NC, and a host of other family members and friends.
