

Barbara was born in Augusta, Georgia on August 21st, 1930 where she spent her childhood years. She moved to Providence, Rhode Island as a teenager and graduated from Hope High School.
It was in Providence where Barbara met the love of her life, Andrea “Cal” Caldarone. They were married on October 12th, 1951 and spent 56 loving years together. In 1965, they moved with their family to sunny Hollywood, Florida.
Barbara spent 58 years teaching Kindergarten children at Colbert and Stirling Elementary Schools. Barbara was an avid reader, shopper, gardener, and a world class cook. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and loved ones. She was a natural caregiver to all, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many others who saw her as a second mom. She was a legendary matriarch and gave unconditional love, care, and support to so many.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her children, Andrea and Tom Cottone, Glenn Caldarone, and Sabina and Danny Grossman; her grandchildren, Andrea and Neal Currin, JoEllen and Gregg Morgan, Thomasina and Rob Waldera, Charles and Tara Cottone, Tommy and Megan Cottone, Danielle Grossman, Joey Grossman, and Nicky Grossman; her great-grandchildren Bella, Thomas, and Sophia Currin, Julia, Olivia, and Stella Morgan, Sabina Nielsen, Rob, Hunter, and MaryEllen Waldera, Charles and Lilah Cottone, Adrian, Charlotte, Tommy, and Avery (due soon) Cottone. She is also survived by her many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She will live forever in all our hearts.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Andrea Caldarone, her parents, Nettie and Jeremiah O’Hara, and her siblings, Mary Hardy, Sabina Melidossian, and John Hayes.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 11th, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fred Hunter’s Davie location, 2401 S. University Dr. The funeral service will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church on Friday, August 12th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow the funeral service at Fred Hunter’s Memorial Gardens North, 3001 N 72nd Ave.
In honor of Barbara’s love for children, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Flowers may be sent to Fred Hunter’s Davie location.
