

Betty Bonkosky, 82 of Lake Eshquaguma in rural Gilbert, MN died at her son's home in Plantation, FL after a lengthy battle with COPD. Funeral arrangements are being made at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home, Davie,FL.
Betty will be cremated and taken back to MN for a service and internment later this summer. In lieu of flowers the family wishes tributes be made to the Hospice Foundation of Virginia, MN.
Betty was born in Greenville, KY, Dec. 26, 1929 to Hettie and William Walker. . The family moved to Louisville, KY where she finished H.S.
and then they moved to Miami, FL in 1948. Betty graduated from Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Miami, Fl with a RN degree in 1951 where she also worked in the E.R. until 1953.
On Dec. 23, 1953 she married Ronald Bonkosky and lived in Chester, Ill working in the Chester Hospital until 1956. They then moved to Miami, Fl and she worked as an RN in an OBGYN office until 1970 and then became a Nursing Supervisor at a local hospital until 1977. Betty then moved to Lake Eshquaguma with her husband where she has since resided.
Betty loved to have dinner parties, cocktail hour and pontoon rides on the lake with her friends from the Lake Eshquaguma Club. Betty was active in many organizations of medical significance, especially the Hospice Program that she helped initiate at the Virginia Hospital. She was a strong supporter of the animal shelter program and medical research foundations. She was an avid bible reader and believed that the Lord would ultimately judge the living and dead. Betty was simply a class act and has to be at the head of the line at St. Peter's Gate.
Betty is survived by her husband, Ronald, a son Michael (Sharon) Bonkosky of Plantation, Fl. A daughter Susan (Tim) Bray of Rosemount, MN. Grandchildren Christopher, Steven, Savannah and Flynn. Her parents preceded her in death.
