

Bhagwan Ramsubhag Singh was born on June 9, 1952, in Penal, Trinidad, where he grew up as the eldest child of the late Rajee Koonge of Aquart Village, Penal, TT, and Ramsubhag Singh of Morne Diablo, TT, originally from Couva, TT. He was the grandson of indentured laborers from Uttar Pradesh, India.
He attended the Dayanand Memorial Vedic School in Penal and Gandhi Tagore College in San Fernando, TT. He graduated in 1970 from Greenwich High School in Connecticut and then attended RCA Radio & TV Technical Institute in NY, where he graduated in 1972. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1969 with his parents and sister, Sita, first settling in CT and then on 31st St. & Broadway in Manhattan, later settling in Jackson Hts. and Corona in Queens, NY.
He got married in 1976 and had two children, Mala and Annand. Together with his parents, he helped set the foundation for the SDMS Shiva Mandir on Northern Blvd, Queens, and organized and took part in many cultural and religious programs.
He later migrated to S. Florida in 1986, where he pioneered Indian and Caribbean culture. He opened the first Indian grocery store, puja store, and one of the first roti shops in S. Florida. He later began an Indian radio program, Sangeetmala, which ran from 1995 to 2022. He emceed many events and organized numerous Diwali, Phagwah, Indian Arrival, and Mother’s/Father’s Day shows.
He was influential in the Hindu community in S. Florida, along with the late Pt. Ramsurat Maharaj and many others. He was the founder and past president of the Shiva Lingam Mandir in Margate, FL.
Throughout his life, he worked in several managerial positions. He will forever be remembered for his generosity to his community and his devotion and love for his dharma and Indian culture, especially music. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and supporters.

A Hindu Funeral Rite will be held at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, located at 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL, 33024, United States. The service is scheduled for February 6, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
