Charles "Dutch" Ermer passed away peacefully on October 14th 2015. He was born June 26, 1926 in Miami, attended Miami Edison Senior High School, and at the age of 17 became the youngest fireman for the City of Miami at that time. The following year he was drafted into World War II. He served and fought in the Army throughout Europe and was honorably discharged after the war was won in 1946. Upon returning home from the military he joined his grandfather working in the plumbing industry. He became a master plumber and in 1968 purchased Right Way Plumbing Co., which was founded in 1931and is now one of the oldest companies in South Florida. Along with his wife Annette, they owned and operated the business for several decades before passing the reins on to their son, Chuck. Dutch enjoyed golfing, traveling, fishing and storytelling. He also spent time at a second home in Wilmington NC. In retirement and not able to sit still, he became a developer, building several commercial properties in the Sunrise area that are still owned and operated by the family. He is survived by his Wife of 60 years, Annette Gillette Ermer, Son Chuck Ermer (wife Laurie Ermer), 4 Grandchildren, Krystyna, Stephanie, Sean, Sarah Ermer and predeceased by two children Ralph Jeffrey and Craig Scott Ermer. He will be greatly missed by all but his stories will live on with us for generations to come.
