On the evening of November 18, 2016, Clarice passed away after a one year battle with cancer. Prior to her passing, Clarice was being visited and comforted by family members at Season's Hospice in Hollywood, Florida. Clarice was 79 years old.
Clarice Johnson was born in Hopetown, Berbice, Guyana on June 24th, 1937 to Maggie Thompson and David Alexander Sedoc. Her mother was a homemaker and her father was a farmer. Clarice completed primary school at St. Michael's Anglican school and attended St. Michael's Anglican church. At the age of twenty, Clarice met and married Morris Haniff and bore him three children Ingrid, Julian and Norma.
Clarice moved from Berbice to Linden in 1962. She worked as a cashier for many years and enjoyed sewing during her leisure time. At age 36, Clarice gave birth to her youngest daughter, Bona. Clarice and her family lived in Linden for 20 years where she met and developed an enduring friendship with the Baker family.
On April 21st, 2001 Clarice married Roy Winston Johnson and 6 years later in 2007, they both moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida. Clarice was a dedicated spouse and took care of Roy for several years until his passing in November, 2010. Clarice lived a comfortable, happy life with her best friend and "sister", Beryl until Clarice's illness led to hospitalization. Clarice will be remembered as a gentle soul, a quiet voice, and a loyal friend.
Clarice is preceded in death by her spouse Roy, her sister Doreen, and her brother Nalo.
Clarice leaves behind her children, Ingrid, Julian, Norma and Bona; step-children Deborah, Randolph, Guy and Shemroy; sisters Vivian, Bernice and Edna; grandchildren Kevin, Clifton, Joshun, Shondel, Sharon, Kendra, Candace, Charmaine, Cassandra, Odlin, Ronika, Rensca, Juliana, Jaycia, Jermaine, and Julian; best friends and companions Beryl, Shoba, Danny, Eileen and the Baker family, and Hagen; nieces and nephews, Mignone, Yvette, Lloyda, Paulette, Beverly, Marve, Noleander, Omadelly, Kibway, Macimba, Clayton, and Colin; great-grandchildren Shonele, Raquan, Afia, Shurena, Ciara, Jasmine, Jaheem, Zendaya, Zenia, Zaharia, Akeela, Joshua, Xenobia, Kiasa and Sana.
Clarice will be sorely missed. Thank you Lord for bringing such a beautiful lady into our lives.
