He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 4, 1950, the son of Melvin and Evelyn (Hansen) Swensen. Raised in Racine, Wisconsin, David and his family moved to Pompano Beach, Florida where he graduated from Pompano Senior High School. He served in The United States Army. A former motorcycle enthusiast, David was an avid reader. He had lived in Cooper City for the past 16 years.
Before his retirement two years ago, David worked for the United States Post Office as a mail handler for 40 years at the Fort Lauderdale main office.
Survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Donna E. (Carby) Swenson, two sons, David Charles Swenson, Jr; and Kenneth Charles Swenson all of Cooper City, Florida. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Vivia Carby.
Visitation on Monday, November 5th from 1:00 ~ 3:00 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. at the Fred Hunter University Funeral Home, 2401 South University Drive in Davie. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. David will be buried with full military honors on Tuesday at 2:30 P.M. at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
