David Wilberforce West

David Wilberforce West, 53, of Miami, Florida passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024.  David, affectionately called Dave, was born on January 15, 1971 in Kingston, Jamaica; W.I.Son of George Alrick West and Belva Helen West née Arscott.

David enjoyed a happy childhood with many idyllic summers spent in the lush countryside of Manchester and Clarendon. After migrating with his family to Miami he spent his adolescence entrenched in academics along with the diversion of playing clarinet in the school band. David went on to become a Doctor of Pharmacy and worked at CVS in this capacity for three decades. He was a devoted member of Parkway Baptist Church and tireless advocate for youth advancement, having also served in the role as Youth Director for several years at Parkway.

David was a loving Son, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, and Cousin who held family and friendship dearly. He will be remembered for his devotion to his Christian faith and for the countless acts of kindness and generosity he bestowed on others.

He is survived by his brothers Douglas of Miami and Christopher (Melissa) of Raleigh, NC; aunts Sheila, Barbara, and Constance; uncles Shirley and Desmond; nieces Olivia and Violet; nephews Jordan and David Amir; cousins Patrick, Marshaleen, William, Richard, Juliet, Donna, Carol, Damien, Darrel, Nadeen, Conroy, and Maurice; and other family and countless friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Fred Hunter Hollywood Funeral Home 6301 Taft Street Hollywood, FL 33024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday June 22, 2024 at Parkway Baptist Church 18000 NW 18th Ave, Miami Gardens, FL 33056 from 10:00am to 11:30pm. Interment will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Hollywood Memorial Gardens East, 6301 Taft Street Hollywood, FL 33024

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to be made to the Parkway Baptist Church Youth Retreat in honor of Brother David West.
