Derek Randall Corbitt

Derek's credo was "Living each day as a great day", enjoying the present as the gift that it is.  Anything he did was done with passion and conviction. A die-hard Gator, Heat & Dolphin fan. He truly loved fantasy football, playing poker, golf, tennis, basketball and above all fishing.

Derek attended the University of Florida and graduated with a Bachelors degree. While at UF he became a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity where he became part of a brotherhood, creating lifelong friendships. With a laid back and personable way about him, he made many friends. He collected a few nicknames along the way, but was best known to us as "BONZ". 

He loved to travel and after college he called many states home, from Georgia, California, Colorado, & finally settling back in Florida near family. He worked as a stock broker more recently with Oppenheimer & Co,  where given his likeable personality his work associates soon called him friend. 

Although diagnosed with Rectal Cancer over five years ago and given only 2 years to live. Even with the news, he still maintained an extremely positive attitude, smiling every day and holding on to hope.  He fought with such great strength and courage, never giving up that he stayed with us a few more years. He is our hero, our angel and will forever be in our hearts 

Derek passed away at home on November 4th at 6:32pm, surrounded by family. 

He is survived by:

Mother: Linda Hoffman of Aventura, Florida

Sisters:  Genise Harrelson & Tammy Eubanks

Brother: Morris Corbitt (Andrea Ader) & Donald Corbitt

Nieces:  Riley Bulnes & Hanna Eubanks

Nephews: Dalton Corbitt & Justin Sinclair

As well as, many friends, co-workers & extended family 

He will be missed by so many, but never forgotten. 

Funeral Services are as follows:

Location: Fred Hunter 6301 Taft st, Hollywood, Fla

Viewing Date: November 9th, Monday between 5pm-8pm

Funeral Service Date: November 10th, Tuesday 10a-12pm ( Live streaming video will be available for those who wish to participate remotely)

Burial will take immediately following the service
