Dolores "Lula" PachecoJanuary 24, 1934 - October 1, 2019OBITUARYDolores "Lula" Pacheco was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico, on January 24, 1934. Lula was resilient since childhood, as she lost her mother at the tender age of 4. Growing up in the depression era in Puerto Rico, she often had to fend for herself. During this time, instances of going to school without shoes and following chickens around to obtain the freshest eggs so she could trade them for baked buttered bread at the local corner store were her daily reality. Throughout the years and through her stories, she taught us to reach for our highest aspirations no matter the obstacles faced. The year 1953 was an exciting time for Lula. She graduated from Ponce High School in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where she met her future husband, Luis Antonio "Nono" Pacheco. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, with her sister, and Nono soon followed. The same year, Lula and Nono vowed their love in marriage while in Chicago, on November 6. Lula worked and thrived in Chicago and, after 22 years, returned to Puerto Rico, where she opened and owned several businesses with her husband. The last being a neighborhood convenience store. This store was appropriately called "La Tiendita de Doña Lula." In the early 90s, Lula and Nono moved to Florida to retire. Lula had a beautiful retirement in Florida, where she created new friendships and celebrated with a weekly get together to play lotto, bingo, and dominoes. She enjoyed the precious time spent traveling and making memories with her grown children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending church and a hot cup of coffee at least four times a day.Lula is survived by her children; Luis Antonio, David, Linda Maritza, Ruth Enid and their spouses, Judy, Samuel and Luis; her grandchildren, Jose, Tania, Jason, JJ, Moises, Byron, Erica, Alexis, David, Isaly, Edwin, Kelysha and Carlos and her Great Grandchildren, Megan, Noah, Anaya, Jenisis, Antonio Benjamin, Uriah, Gabriel, Gloria, Moises Jr and Joanna. She is also survived by her sister Virginia, her nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. Her legacy of inner strength, determination and intense love for family, friends and life as well as her wise counsel will remain in each one of us and will illuminate our hearts and minds until we meet her again in heaven. At 85 years of age, Dolores "Lula" Pacheco, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, passed away on 10/01/2019, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.
