A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
His story Donovan “Prango Naphtali, Feed the The Nation” Blair Born to parents Pearline Young and Ferdinand Blair Jan 10 1953 He grew up in a humble home in Jamaica with his family of 4 sisters and 2 brothers Stories of Mischief was what he he often told, Growing up in Pembroke Hall where he made his early mold Through the hills of Manchester he roamed with his cousins, wreaking havoc as a young boy, making trouble by the dozen His talents were many, his observations always on pointe. He was a quick learner, and could replicate just about anything he put his hands to. He spoke lovingly of his mother. He admired her greatly and enjoyed watching as she carried on her motherly duties If he said your food tasted like his mother’s, that would have been a huge complement. It was always food battles in our kitchen, daring to challenge Dad and prove your kitchen worthiness and skills. He was a true Jack of all trades and master of many. Unlikely skill sets such as Sewing, knitting, baking and cooking -he made them all appear so seamless. Plumbing, Welding, Fixing, or Building, whatever he put his mind to, seemed quite effortless He found the Twelve tribes of Israel family in his early adult years, and like many others, this lead him on a different path, one of righteousness and humbleness in God and living with a purpose. He shared his unique stories and the challenges he faced as a Rasta man, where having dreads back in the days was commonly frown upon. Despite these experiences, His faith was strong, and so he continued to trod on. Let’s not forget his Singing (Group -Creators), “Send us home to Ethiopia”, and “Africa awaits its Creators”. He was knowledgeable about his old time music, he would not be beat at any music challenges. He was a conversationalist, and a story teller. He often spoke about his biker days with his crew that were quite bold and daring, traveling in packs as they headed across the Island to attend the Twelve Tribe meetings. Winning souls was the mission, and repatriation to Africa was the vision He served in Twelve Tribe House in whatever ways he saw fit, cooking and building, and just carrying on the work of the most High, Jah Rastafari His later years in Florida where again the family multiplied, in spirit and in fellowship he created yet a whole new tribe Forging further bonds that blossomed into a network of close friends. Weaving a web of love and brotherhood, he kept up his love of Giving He had a genuine care and love for people around him and was affectionately known as Dads or Father, coined by the countless friends and families he acquired, through his travels both near and far. His children and grandchildren though were undoubtedly his pride Indeed his quiver was full, and his blessings never dried He was always grateful and took nothing for granted He was Kind, he was caring, he was Bold and sometimes daring He was a people’s person, always happy and comforting He was always present, for a fatherly advice, problem solving, sharing recipes with his daughters and guiding their lives We never argued, he never got mad. Always a positive spirit and a smile he had. His BIBLE was his best friend, and his unwavering Love for God His unending passion for giving continued to take center stage in his life. He started organizations, Feed the Nation, (NY); RAS (Righteous Advanced Search) Inc, (Florida); whose mission was to equip under-privileged schools and children with the necessary tools to obtain an education and to succeed in life. One of the great and unique promises of the Bible is that the more we give, the more we receive - not necessarily in material possessions, but in spiritual and eternal rewards We will miss our Prango dearly. Though he is no longer with us in flesh, his spirit lives on in all of us and his works will continue with the Grace of God. “Let the Hungry be fed, the naked clothed, the sick nourished, the aged protected and the infants cared for” - HIM Haile Selassie I. “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it” • Hebrews 13:2 “Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing” • Proverbs 28:27 His Missions: Feed the Nation - New York RAS Inc (Righteous Advanced Search) - Florida Other active participation: Duhaney Park Foundation - Florida and Jamaica
