After a brave and courageous battle with diabetes and all the complications that went along with this enemy of the body, Dorothy A. (Riley) Williams , known to most as Girlie died at 8:15pm on Sunday, July 18, 2010.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica 81 years ago, Dorothy was a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. She was loved by all. Predeceased by her parents, one brother, three nephews, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in law, she leaves behind to mourn, her loving husband of 60 years, Michael; three daughters, Elaine, Carol and Angella (David); four grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Richard and Robert; and three great-grandchildren, Salim, Miles, and Ishka; and scores of relatives and dear friends.
Girlie gave birth to only three daughters, however many called her Moms, Mum, or Mama. She was happiest when she was in the presence of her family and friends. You could stop by anytime and she would greet you with a smile and the words, How yu do mi love? Her farewell statements were always, God bless and keep you and Good good. Some of her favorite sayings were Trouble no set like rain and Who cyan ear will feel.
Diabetes took a foothold in Girlies life 16 years ago. She suffered strokes and heart attacks, but was victorious in those battles until July 18th when she was too weary to fight any longer. Though she was taken from us before we were ready to say goodbye, we are comforted in knowing that she was ready to walk with the Lord. She will be deeply missed by many.
