

Earl Edwin "Bud" Moore, Jr., a resident of Fort Lauderdale, FL, passed away on September 5, 2016 at the age of 73. Bud was born on May 20, 1943 in Springfield, MA to Earl Edwin Moore, Sr. and Albeena Bartos Moore. He spent much of his early childhood on his grandparents' farm in South Deerfield, MA harvesting potatoes, cucumbers, beets, and tobacco. At the age of 11, he moved to Daytona Beach, FL where he developed his love of the ocean, stock car racing, and various occupational skills which served him well throughout his lifetime. After graduating from Florida Military School in Deland, FL, Bud attended Florida State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Criminology in 1967. After college, he joined the U.S. Army and attended Ranger school at Ft. Benning, GA. In 1968-69, he served our country in Vietnam as Lieutenant of a mechanized platoon in the 5th Infantry Division. He later served as Captain of the Military Police at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin, Germany from 1970-71. Upon returning home, Bud spent three years serving as the Executive Director of Junior Achievement of Broward County, FL. He then settled into a rewarding, 30yr career as an insurance agent for AXA-Equitable. Bud was an avid fan of NASCAR, country music, dancing, and all things related to the military. He was a proud American, father, grandfather, partner, and friend. If you were fortunate enough to know him or even be in his company for a short while, you would know he was one of the most loving, compassionate, and generous souls to ever live. Bud is survived by his son, Robert L. Moore of Atlanta, GA, granddaughters Madison & Mackenzie Moore of Atlanta, GA, his domestic partner of 18 years, Linda Midla of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and her family: Stefanie Wright (Mickey) and their daughter Amelia Lambert of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Paul Washburn (Jennifer) and their daughters Jacklyn and Noelle of Fayetteville, NC, former wife Beverly G. Moore of Acworth, GA, cousins Sandy Whitt of Tangerine, FL, Patricia Ziebleman (Michael) of Cocoa Beach, FL, and Janis Pinsky (Michael) of Pittsburgh, PA, along with numerous aunts & cousins from his large family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America at vva.org. On Saturday, November 12, Bud's family will receive friends at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 2401 S. University Dr., Davie, FL 33324 from 10:00 AM to 12:00PM with a service at 11:00 AM followed by a ceremony and celebration of his life at the American Legion Post 36, 1620 W State Rd 84, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315 starting at 1:00 PM.
