

Elizabeth McIlvaine Fifer passed away on January 27, 2017. She was born February 10, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Elizabeth Wocher McIlvaine and Heathcote Reed McIlvaine. She has been a resident of Ft. Lauderdale since 1940, attending Pinecrest School, Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO, and a member of the Beta chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at Indiana University. She was the former wife of Dr. John S. Fifer.
Elizabeth is survived by her 5 children: Paul Reed Fifer and wife Diane, John Sherwood Fifer, Jr. and wife Jan, Thomas Steven Fifer and wife Melody, William Wesley Fifer and wife Konnee and Elizabeth Dorcas Fifer Motisi. Elizabeth was known best as "Betty" and spent 28 years selling Real Estate in the greater Ft. Lauderdale area, specializing in luxury waterfront homes. Her fourteen grandchildren include Brian Fifer, Jamie Elizabeth Fifer O'Rear, Matthew Fifer, Andrew Fifer, Kristine Elizabeth Fifer Ripamonti, Paul Jones, Amy Elizabeth Fifer Fitzgerald, John Fifer, Carrie Fifer Glass, Mary Elizabeth Fifer, Leslie Fifer, Jacqueline Fifer Criswell, Matthew Motisi, Elizabeth Motisi Sigl. Her 10 great grandchildren include Faith Fitzgerald, Zoe Glass, Valentine Glass, Atlas Glass, Elizabeth Criswell, Aniston Criswell, Alessandro Ripamonti, Greyson O'Rear, Brooklyn Elizabeth O'Rear and Faith Lynn.
Member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Ft Lauderdale Charity Guild, Florida Upper Keys Outboard Club and a charter member of the Gulfstream Sailing Club. She obtained her private pilot's license and with her lady pilot friends they would fly around Florida in their own planes and meet for lunch in various locations. She often spent time in Marsh Harbor, Abaco where she built two waterfront homes. She is remembered as a world traveler, private pilot, adventurer and best Grandma in the world. Much loved and greatly missed. Donations in her memory may be made to Faith Farm Ministries or the Resident Auxiliary Services (RAS) at John Knox Village.
