Francisco was born May 7, 1936 in Manabi, Ecuador to Augusto and Rosa Aguirre. He was born to a family of engineers, with 3 of 5 brothers being civil engineers, Francisco was not going to be left behind. And so it was, that while pursuing his Civil Engineering studies he, a 20-year old university student, met and fell in love with Rita Vargas. They were married July 31, 1959 and were with each other through life’s trials and triumphs. Francisco and Rita went on to have three children, Xavier, Gioconda, and Alexandra.
Although Francisco began his university studies in his native country of Ecuador, he interrupted the process to emigrate to the United States to provide a better life for his family and future generations. Once settled in this country, Francisco fulfilled his American dream by working full-time during the day to sustain a wife and two young kids (at the time), then attending college at night. Along the way, he achieved his first career milestone by earning his Professional Land Surveyor registration. He continued the arduous process of working by day and studying at night/weekends for several years, until he graduated from Florida International University in 1979 with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and soon thereafter earned his professional civil engineer registration. Over time, Francisco went on to play significant leadership roles in several civil engineering and mapping companies.
In the practice of civil engineering and surveying/mapping, Francisco left his mark on the landscape of Broward County, by participating in the design of several commercial and residential developments; particularly along the University Drive corridor in the Town of Davie. These developments and businesses, buzz and thrive with activity, day after day, without cessation. Francisco’s name was both well known and well respected, by the engineering-review staff of Broward County government, town of Davie, as well as several other municipalities in Broward.
Throughout his life, Francisco was a wonderful, devoted, affectionate father, husband, and role model. He always modeled for his children a strong work ethic, selflessness, patience, and especially a joyful attitude. He encouraged his children and grand children to reach high and he proudly celebrated their accomplishments and supported them through life’s difficulties.
When Francisco wasn't working on land surveys and civil engineering plans, he enjoyed traveling near and far. Trips to Orlando have always been a family favorite, including many get aways to Disney World and, more recently, relaxing escapes with his wife, Rita, to their second home in Altamonte Springs. He also enjoyed traveling to Ecuador to spend time with family members who live there and took family vacations to Europe on several occasions as well. He was also a great dancer, and could be seen dancing merengue at many family parties. Above all, he loved spending time together with his family, whether going out to dinner or staying in and watching a movie together. His smile was contagious and his faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior was strong.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; his children, Xavier, Gioconda, and Alexandra; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, through which his memory and legacy will be carried on forever.
