Irene Johnson

Irene Merrill Johnson was born on December 23,1930 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late George R. and Laura T. Merrill. She entered the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 27, 2018. She graduated Parkersburg High School in 1948, then Mountain State Business College, and was employed as a comptroller in payroll for over 10 years at

DuPont. She then retired and moved to Florida where she met her future husband, "Johnny." Later, together they established their own business in Davie, FL. She was a faithful member of Calvary Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, Hollywood, FL for 17 years and served as Assistant Treasurer.

Coincidentally, October 27, 1972 was her date of marriage to the late George W. "Johnny" Johnson, to whom she spent 29 years with. She is survived by a son, Matthew L. Johnson, of Davie, FL; and a sister, Jean Caltrider, of Colorado Springs, CO; and 5 step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Sisters, Constance Merrill and Virginia M. Nuzum, and brother, Orville Merrill, preceded her in death. Psalm 113: 9, "He makes the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children." She was a mother to many and was dearly loved.

Her "Celebration of Life Service" will be held at Merrill's Chapel, Elizabeth, WV, on Saturday, November 3, 2018. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Rick Nuzum and Pastor Lamar Ferrell officiating.
