

She was born to Chaitu and Samaria Persaud on August 29th, 1940 in Diamond, Guyana. After leaving her home, Iris moved with her family to Long Island, New York in 1978 and later to Coral Springs, Florida in 1991 where she resided with her brother, Jeewan Persaud.
She was independent, strong, patient, honest, and caring. Iris loved spending time with her large, extended family creating delicious meals and sweets and telling stories. You could find Iris relaxing at the casino, watching her favorite Bollywood shows at home, or chatting on the phone advising a family member or friend. Many often came to her as a great listener - she always gave without expecting anything in return. She was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her.
Iris was a dedicated, committed worker. She retired from Coral Springs Medical Center with people who became her family and her friends.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters and their spouses - Dolly & Cubison Veerasammy and Savitri & Ishwar Narain. She is survived by her brother Jeewan Persaud, her 3 children and their spouses Pamela Chatterpaul Strongin, Deo & Jennifer Chatterpaul, and Derek & Dee Chatterpaul.
She was a proud grandmother to her 7 grandchildren - Adam Strongin, Analise Montiel, Alex Strongin, Emily Fredericks, Christina Hernandez, Andrew Strongin, and Deven Chatterpaul - and “Gran” to her 6 great-grandchildren - Austin Montiel, Ava Montiel, Addison Fredericks, Kai Hernandez, Alanna Montiel, and Mackenzie Fredericks.
