James Oliner Williams

James was born on October 26, 1969, in Rochester, New York, to Sellie and Lillian Williams. He attended Deerfield Beach High School, where he later graduated. On November 18, 2005, James married the love of his life, Vernell Higgs-Williams, in Boca Raton, Florida.

James worked as an Assistant Produce Manager for Publix for 12 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

James was preceded in death by his son, James Williams Jr., and his parents, Sellie and Lillian Williams.

James is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Vernell Higgs-Williams; his children: Jermekia Williams-Taylor (Fred), Darrin Higgs Sr. (Therese), Ciarra Higgs (Jeremy Sr.), Khalil Higgs, and Kyla Williams; his brothers-in-law Michael, Korey, Darrell, Darnell, Nickcarson, and Doran Sr.; his sisters-in-law Victoria, Ruthe, and Roxanne; his grandchildren Tamya, Jayden, Jasmine, Darrin Jr., Jeremy Jr., Xavier, Jada, Ta’nya, Gabriella, and Love; his nieces Tyesha, Nyesha, and Kaitlyn; his nephews Tyshaun, Gavin, Doran Jr., and Ethan; and his mother-in-law, Mary Higgs.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at the Highlands Recreation Center, Pompano Beach, FL 33064. Arrangements are by Fred Hunter.
