Born March 29, 1964 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Jean-Marc followed in his family's dance steps and launched several Fred Astaire Dance Studios, a legacy of the original studio started by Jean-Marc's grandfather, Charles Casanave, with the legendary Fred Astaire in New York in 1947. Jean-Marc took over what became an award-winning studio in Boca Raton in 2004, and was as successful in business as he was at inspiring devoted friendships, and building strong community partnerships. Jean-Marc was known for his kindness, his faith, his generosity of spirit and a rare ability to make people feel loved and important and valuable. His tendency to light up a room was well known; his laughter was contagious. He was the person who helped his friends and family believe in themselves--and in things larger than themselves. He was a gift.
Jean-Marc is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Pam Casanave. He is also survived by his sister, Ondine Fortune, niece, Marcela Fortune and nephew, Miles Fortune. Jean-Marc also leaves a myriad of cousins, family, friends throughout the country and his pet dogs, Roxy and Rudy.
