Jesse Maron English, 71, of Hollywood, Florida passed away on January 28th, 2021, following a battle with cancer. A small gathering will be held at Fred Hunter’s in Hollywood, Florida on Saturday, February 6th from 3:30pm-5pm.
Jesse English was born in Dothan, Alabama on July 19th, 1949. He spent his early years in Hollywood Florida, attending McArthur High School. After graduation, Jesse attended Concord University in West Virginia where he received a Bachelor in Science, then continued on to receive his Master of Landscape Architecture at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. He was a proud member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity and cherished the relationships he formed during his years at Concord & VA Tech.
Jesse called Virginia home for many years and had a fond place in his heart for the state, where he panned on returning. Blacksburg and Roanoke were places he held dear, however, he and his daughter, Jessica, both shared an affinity for Richmond, Virginia where he spent many years landscaping; the thing he enjoyed the most. Jesse was an award winning landscape architect and absolutely loved the outdoors, gardening, and sharing his knowledge of plants with others.
Jesse was also an established educator. He recently retired as an English teacher for Broward County School Systems at Coral Springs High School. He was very passionate about his work, and enjoyed finding creative ways to shape and impact young minds. He was so proud of many of his students and still kept in touch with some of them, even after retirement.
Jesse is survived by his daughter, Jessica, and sister, Sue. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon, mother, Gladys, and father, Anderson.
His daughter, Jessica, has requested that people remember Jesse and celebrate his life by listening to some good dance tunes. He loved music, loved to dance, and had plans to DJ after he retired; which he never got to do. He was a fun soul with a lot of rhythm and was always curating a new funk or disco playlist to keep him moving.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Cancer Research Institute at https://fundraise.cancerresearch.org/jesseenglish or a charity of your choosing. The family of Jesse wishes to thank everyone that has reached out to show their love and support. Words cannot express how incredibly grateful they are to have a community embracing them during this time.
