

John Eric Nisbet, 77, of Hollywood, Florida "Johnny" Nisbet, son of the late Eric and Mary (Logan) Nisbet and Stepmother Margaret "Peg" Nisbet, passed away on the 10th of April at the Hospice By the Sea due to complications after suffering a stroke. He is survived by his life partner Beverly Tecci, his Brothers Ronnie, Billy, Arthur, Eddie, his sisters Lynda Packard and Jayne Savioli. John was a loving father to 6 children that he had with his ex-wife, C. Lee (Toohey) DeStefano, Eric, Kim Stoloski, Jay, Mark (passed away in 2002), Neil and Michael. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren. "Papa" was always quick with a hug and a kiss and loved each and every grandchild as if they were his only one. John was born in Waltham on October 6, 1937. He was an outstanding athlete and was captain of 3 sports and President of his graduating class at Hyde Park High School in 1957. He survived Tuberculosis and remained an athlete, completing the Boston Marathon in just over 4 hours at 39. John's love of sports and kids led him to coach many young athletes. He coached Pop Warner football in Scituate, Massachusetts. He started a baseball all-star team for boys who would travel to tournaments throughout Eastern Massachusetts during the summer. He loved to be fit and to look good. After recovering from an arterial aneurysm in 2001, he was running on Hollywood beach just a year later. He loved the beach and spending time with his sweetheart, Beverly. John was living his dream. He lived on the beach where he could go almost year round with Beverly who loved the lifestyle just the way he did. Hollywood was also where three of his brothers live so the family connection remained strong even in retirement. He loved being a fan of all New England sports, especially his Red Sox. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. John's wake will be on Tuesday April 14th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home - Taft Street 6301 Taft Street Hollywood, FL 33024
