

Keturah was born in Pedro Plains, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica W.I to Adelini Taylor and Augustus Lelmar on December 20, 1921. She went to school in Pedro Plains. She was married to Member of Parliament Charles D. Wright in 1949 in Mountainside, St. Elizabeth. Keturah was a modern woman who was ahead of her time. She worked as a supervisor at the National Insurance Scheme in Black River, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica W.I and ran the family retail business. When she lived in Black River, she could be seen frequently driving her little blue Aston Martin car all around town with her family. Keturah was the family matriarch and she raised not only her daughter Fay Genevieve Smith, but also her grand-daughters Meisha Kareen Coulter, Alison Fay Smith and Jessica Ann Smith. Her child and grandchildren became professionals – Fay is a retired Registered Nurse and midwife, Meisha and Alison are attorneys and Jessica is a physician. They all credit her as their hero and inspiration.
Keturah is preceded in death by her daughter Jasmine Roseleon Wright who died at seven years old, and her husband Charles D. Wright.
Keturah is survived by her daughter Fay Genevieve Smith, her grand-daughters Meisha Kareen Coulter, Alison Fay Smith and Jessica Ann Smith, and her great-grand-daughters Emma Grace Smith and Ella Rose Smith.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm on January 5, 2024 at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home located at 6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024 and at the Plantation United Methodist Church located at 1001 NW 70th Ave, Plantation, FL 33313 on January 6, 2024 from 10am to 11am (preceding the Celebration of Life Service).
Keturah’s Celebration of Life service will be held on January 6, 2024 at 11am at the Plantation United Methodist Church located at 1001 NW 70th Ave, Plantation, FL 33313, with Rev. Daniel Garcia, officiating. Interment will follow at the Hollywood Memorial Gardens-West located at 6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024.
A Catered Repast featuring typical Jamaican cuisine to be held at the Church in the Fellowship Hall following the interment. Those who will not travel to the interment may proceed to the Fellowship Hall to await the return of the family and guests who traveled to the interment.
The family of Keturah wishes to extend our sincere thanks to her other family members, friends, and caretakers who have loved and cared for her during her life. Thanks also to all those who assisted in organizing her Celebration of Life service and interment preparation.
