

Laurie was born in Teaneck, NJ to Therese (Tessie) & Milton (Moe) Leahy. Laurie resided in Tenafly, NJ, married and had five children. Laurie and her family moved to Goshen, NY in the early 1970’s where she later divorced and raised her five children on her own. Laurie worked several jobs to raise her five children and later put herself through college, eventually graduating from Lady Cliff college with a degree in Bachelor of Arts. Her five children were present at her graduation. Laurie went on to become an Art Therapist at the McQuade Foundation in Newburgh NY. She later took an art content creator position at the Amscan Corporation in Harrison NY. A career that would span over 30 years, Laurie would commute more than one and a half hours each way to her job. Laurie later married John C. Moore of Goshen, NY and fulfilled her lifelong dream of moving to the State of Florida, where they enjoyed golfing, traveling and making new friends. Laurie even became the Sergeant at Arms at her local American Legion Post #92. She will be remembered for her love of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, her sense of humor, love of cooking, love of the arts and her love of the outdoors. Laurie was especially close with her brother Charlie with whom she also enjoyed traveling with.
Laurie, who was commonly known as “Gram” to her grandchildren, is survived by: Kathleen Lynch and her partner Jim Mangan, Erin and her husband David Andryshak, Terrence Lynch and his wife Amy, Michael Lynch, Brendan “Bam” Lynch and his partner Lynn Beaumont. “Gram” is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Meaghan, Shannon, Erin, Honor, Brianna, Tara, Trevor and Connor. Laurie is also survived by two great grandchildren: Griffin and Ryan along with her niece and nephew Patrick and Caitlyn Leahy. Laurie is also survived by her stepchildren: Jennifer Panet, John Moore Jr and her step grandchildren Ashten and Isabella Panet, Morgan Moore and Andrew Moore.
Laurie will be deeply missed by her husband and friend John.
Laurie’s family would like to thank: Memorial Regional Oncology Unit of Hollywood Florida for what she called her “spa days” and also The Catholic Hospice of Miami Lakes Florida.
A celebration of Laurie’s life will be held at the Elks Lodge in Davie Florida at a later date (TBA). A graveside service will be held at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen, New York later this spring.
