It is with somber hearts but hopeful spirits that we celebrate the life and legacy of Marcia Theresa Ramsay - a devoted wife, doting mother, loving grandmother, special sister, kind aunt, faithful friend, life-changing educator, and sister in Christ.
Marcia was born in Kingston, Jamaica on January 10, 1951, and entered the presence of her Savior and Lord on June 19, 2017 in Miami, Florida.
The second of three children born to her late parents, Geneva and Gersham Ramsay, Marcia grew up with older sister Patricia and younger brother Barry in Jamaica, where she showed early signs of her love for education by teaching siblings, dolls and any other object in her imaginary classroom.
Marcia fulfilled her childhood dream when she received her Teacher's Certificate in Elementary Education from the University of the West Indies in 1971. After teaching in London, England on a year-long exchange program, she relocated to Freeport Bahamas where she would meet and marry the love of her life, Bennet Davis on July 17, 1982. She also obtained a bachelor's degree in Religious Knowledge Education from Bethany Bible College in Dothan Alabama and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Covenant College in Georgia.
Bennet and Marcia Davis lived in holy matrimony for nearly 35 years, sharing a close-knit bond visible to everyone around them. Built on a foundation of faith, their marriage was a shining example of God's wonderful plan for a husband and wife. They raised three children, Bianca (37), Bennet (33), and Benton (28), - who are each committed to continuing their parents' legacy of love.
Marcia spent more than 10 years at St. Vincent De Paul Elementary School in Freeport, Bahamas where she taught first grade, and 14 years at Sunland Lutheran School where she taught first through sixth grade. Marcia and her family were also active members of Calvary Temple Church in The Bahamas for many years.
Marcia relocated to Northwest Christian Academy in Miami, Florida in 2002 to continue her illustrious career and ministry, and was the Assistant Head of School before her passing. Marcia was also very actively involved in Northwest Baptist Church, and especially loved working with the children during Vacation Bible School. Outside of her love for God, family, her church and career, Marcia was an exceptional cook, and loved watching Dancing with the Stars and beauty pageants.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Bennet Davis; children, Bianca Jackson, Bennet Davis Jr. and Benton Davis; grandson Beldon Davis; granddaughter Hailey Davis (due on June 25, 2017); daughter-in-law, Henna Davis (Bennet); sister Patricia Arthurs; brother Barry Ramsay (wife, Rosanda); nieces Colette Harley (husband, Jim), Karen Arthurs, and Patricia Brooks (husband, Maalik) nephew Bruce Arthurs (wife Kamerin), and their children; aunt and uncle Mary and Rudy Lyons; brothers-in-law Maurey Davis, (wife, Muriel) Jeffrey Davis, (wife, Elizabeth), sisters-in-law Sheila Smith, Swanee Davis, Lucretia Davis, Lucy Weech, and their children, and a host of other relatives, family and friends.
Marcia will be greatly missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, faculty and the thousands of students whose lives she touched.
