

Born on August 8, 1932, to Ilie Ceran and Pauna Miok, Maria built a life marked by resilience, devotion, and deep love for her family. In 1949, she married Traian Popescu in Lokve (San Mihai), Banat, beginning a partnership rooted in strength and commitment.
With courage and determination, Maria later immigrated to the United States, settling first in New York. She worked diligently as a Housekeeping Attendant in New York City with Local 32BJ for over 20 years. She later moved to Dania Beach, Florida, where she continued to bring warmth and care to all who knew her.
Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Traian Popescu, and her brothers, Adam Miok and Pau Miok.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, and unconditional love. Her passion for cooking, steadfast faith, and the joy she found in her great-grandchildren brought light to every gathering. The many memories made with “Buni” will forever be cherished by all who loved her.
Maria is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Julijana Popescu, Traian Popescu, Marioara Popescu, Jon Popescu, Traian Tom Popescu, Daniella Rivera, Roman Popescu, Katerina Sciara, Brandon Popescu, Jon Carlos Popescu, Mila Sciara, Isabella Rivera, and Lana Sciara.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held after the burial on Friday, November 14, 2025. Details to follow.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to The Peninsula Assisted Living, Vitas Healthcare, and Holy Cross Romanian Orthodox Church for the extraordinary care, kindness, and compassion shown to Maria in the final month of her life. Their support brought comfort and peace to our family during this difficult time.
