Mark Shabazz

Mark Shabazz was born April 25, 1964, to Marie Cecile (nee: Guignard) Laforest. Mark was called home on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Mark was a graduate of Hunter College, New York and MidWestern State University, Texas. He also served in the United States Air Force.

On January 5, 2000, Mark married Claudia Marie Pierre in Miami, Florida. They remained married until Claudia’s passing in 2010. Two children, Brandon and Anthony Shabazz, were born from this union.

During his career as a Senior Merchandising Architect for RGIS, he received numerous accolades for his dedicated and exemplary service.

Mark enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, going to the beach, relaxing (in any way shape or form), watching sports, cracking jokes, helping his loved ones, and enjoying a good homecooked meal, but most of all, he loved spending time with his boys (Brandon and Anthony). He was a devoted father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, cousin, uncle, coworker, and friend.

Mark was ill for approximately one year and was called home while hospitalized on December 10, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia. Mark leaves to cherish his loving memory his two children, Brandon and Anthony Shabazz; his mother and stepfather, Marie Cecile Laforest and Dr. Jean-Jacques Fritz Laforest; a mother-in-law, Gertha Mehu; a sister, Genevieve Laforest; a brother, Fritz Laforest; a brother, Richard Daniels; a brother, Pablo Casal; two stepchildren, Randy and Maurine Sue Obsaint; one grandson, Mason Flores; and a host of devoted aunts and uncles-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous loved ones who will miss his radiant smile.
