Born November 28, 1925 in Brown's Town St Ann's Jamaica, Michael "Mike" Jair Williams was the first born of 14 children. He passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital Pembroke in Florida on Sunday, January 8th @ 5:15pm. He was 86 years old.
At a very young age, Mike relocated to Kingston where he worked as a drug store clerk. It was during that phase of his life that he met the stunning Dorothy "Girlie" Riley. After a 3 year courtship he made her his wife. The union produced 3 girls; Elaine, Carol, and Angella. They were his world. He epitomized the word "Daddy". Over the years, "his girls" could expect him to visit Port Royal every Saturday, rain, shine or hurricane. They anxiously awaited his return as he would have in his possession Soldier Bread and Fried Fish. That was quite a treat for the family.
Not long after his marriage he took a job at a print shop and discovered his calling. In 1961 he opened his own print shop, Prestige Printers Ltd. As the years went by, the business flourished and he found himself being mentor to all the young 'printer hopefuls' in the area.
In 1979, Mike and his wife immigrated to the United States and made Miami FL their home. He worked for 18 years before retiring in 1997. He was an avid gardener and took pride in the appearance of his lawn. Mike had a caring soul for all God's creatures. Every morning he could be found in his back yard feeding the birds or stray cats.
Mike was affectionately known as Dads, Pretty Daddy, Pappi and Pops to many. In July 2010 he lost his beloved wife of 61 years and though he was hardly ever sick, his life and health took a downward spiral.
Predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his brothers Earl and Bassett, his sisters Daisy and Beryl, his sister-in-law Enid and his parents, Mike leaves behind to mourn him, his 3 girls, Elaine, Carol and Angella (David); 4 brothers, Hector (Ina), George (Lynnette), Lance (Velma) and Patrick (Amy); 5 sisters, Sheila, Daphne, Mary, Audrey, Muriel (Bob), sister -in-law Faye, brother-in-law Dennis; 4 grandchildren, Michael, Lisa, Richard (Faith) and Robert (Desrene); 3 great grandchildren Salim, Miles, Ishcah and scores of relatives and dear friends.
Mike lived a full life and will be greatly missed by many. He was ours while on earth, now he is God's forever.
