Mildred was born in Senath, MO to Lillie and Andrew Voss on June 16, 1921. She attended the Davie School, then Fort Lauderdale High School. She married Huey Whitehead in 1939 in Fort Lauderdale. He passed away in 1979. She married Ted Tarpley in 1982 in Fort Lauderdale and they remained married until he passed away in 1996. She was a bookkeeper and office manager for Warren Cleaners and Imperial Cleaners. She retired at the age of 75 and moved to Central Florida to be closer to her family.
Mildred, a loving mother and grandmother survived by her daughter, Tina Baron, son-in-law, Lou Baron, grandchildren Andrew Baron, Alexandra Baron-Burnham, Amanda Baron-Izbicky, and her sister, Alma Jean Thompson.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held graveside at 10 am, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Hollywood Memorial Gardens West—arrangements made by Fred Hunter Funeral Home. If you choose to attend please honor Mildred by wearing bright colors instead of traditional black.
The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Advent Health Hospice for the excellent care they provided in her time of need.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions to The Alzheimer's Association.
