Pierre Massillon Joseph, a man whose boundless compassion and generous spirit left an indelible mark, departed this life peacefully at the age of 89 on May 20, 2025, at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Born on November 7, 1935, in Milot, Haiti, to Philoria Remy and Sadra Joseph, Pierre embodied the values of humility, kindness, and unwavering dedication to others. He completed his primary education at L'Ecole Marius Levy in Cap-Hatienne, Haiti. Those who knew Pierre will remember him not only for his infectious smile but also for his big heart. Throughout his life, he was always ready to lend a hand, offer a word of encouragement, or give without expecting anything in return.
In December 1967, Pierre married the late Josette Baptiste, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love that warmed the hearts of all who knew them. Together, they had six beloved children: the late Henry Massillon Joseph, Marguerite Joseph, the late Nelson Joseph, Nahomie Joseph, Betty Joseph-Ambroise, and Maxime Jose Joseph. Pierre was also a devoted father to Diansnik Joseph, Rodney Celestin Joseph, Matinol Celestin Joseph, and Rosenirva Joseph-Michel—each of whom held a special place in his heart. He came to the United States in 1986 to join his wife and worked for Carnival Cruiseline for many years.
Pierre's legacy is one of love, service, and community—his warmth, wisdom, and selflessness in always being ready to help anyone in need touched countless lives. Whether offering advice, sharing his life stories, or simply being present, Pierre made people feel seen and valued. He found joy in music and dancing to his favorite band, Septentrional.
He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory lives on in the hearts of those he helped, those he loved, and the many lives he changed just by being himself. He is remembered by Marguerite Joseph, Nahomie Joseph, Betty Joseph-Ambroise, Maxime Jose Joseph, Diansnik Joseph, Rodney Celestin Joseph, Matinol Celestin Joseph, and Rosenirva Joseph-Michel, who were his children.
